That means future policy needs to stay flexible enough to handle whatever comes next, without losing sight of real, meaningful safeguards—strong data security standards, transparency in how information is processed, regulators who can actually enforce the rules, and remedies people can genuinely access when something goes wrong.

Legal education needs to keep pace too. Lawyers working in this space increasingly need a working understanding of technology, cybersecurity, and data governance—because privacy disputes today often hinge on technical evidence and business models that a purely legal background won't fully prepare you for.
